Pleased to be posting with another very exciting announcement for this year – 2013 is so far shaping up to be a very exciting (if deeply busy) year. Anyone who knows me will testify that I exhibit some of the signs of being a workaholic, and never more so has this been the case!
Anyway, my summer is certainly going to be a busy one, as I’ll be running not one but two superb events for fans of science-fiction, fantasy and horror! I’ve previously announced Edge-Lit 2 at Derby QUAD – which will be following up from its successful first year – but I’m also delighted to introduce a new event for 2013, FUTURA.
Futura is a one-day science-fiction convention, which will be running at the fantastic Light House in Wolverhampton on Saturday 15th June. For those of you who haven’t been there, it’s a great modern venue, gallery and independent cinema. I’ve been teaching there for some time, which has been going really well, and also ran a great fun night of Christmas ghost stories in December. It’s a great bunch of people there, it’s a great space for events and ultimately I’m looking forward to a fantastic day.
But what’s in it for me, I hear you cry! Well, for the sterling rate of just £25 you’ll get access to a range of activities from 11am-late, including reading, panels, Q+A sessions, our fabulous book market and much more. If that wasn’t enough to entice you, how about a Guest of Honour line-up comprising KEN MACLEOD, ADAM ROBERTS and IAN R MACLEOD? All-star or what? Add to that some more great writing talent, which I am keeping up my sleeve for the time being, and all in all you have a top day our for SF writers, readers and fans alike.
